Who's this item for: Owners of a ute or pickup that only need to carry a couple of bikes and don't want to take up their whole tailgate with a pad.
How many bikes does it carry: This one carries 2 bikes and is half the physical size of a normal pad.
Tailgate handle cutout: Nope, it doesn't need one as it'll sit off to the side leaving the tailgate handle and reversing cameras free and unobstructed.
How much does it weigh / dimensions: The weight isn't listed by Dakine but the pad is 74cm (29" wide).
Materials: 1000D Recycled Polyester with UV/weather-resistant coating
Any Special Features: Cable lock compatible, two webbing cinch straps to secure 2 bikes. Reflective logo.
Pros: Works great on any size tailgate and has all the same great features as a full-sized pad.
Cons: It only carries 2 bikes so you'll need to get creative if you pick up a couple more friends for some shuttles.

- Al P.I recommend this productRated 3 stars1 year agoGreat product, but mightn't suit most aussie utes
Purchased for my ranger XLT, but it is too wide and either obscures the tail lights or the reverse camera (which is very low on the ranger)
Design is good other than that, installation is easy and it looks to be well made.

This is a cost-effective option if you don't need a full tail-gate alternative. In spite of the description saying it only holds two bikes, it does has three loops so three bikes could be carried on it at a squeeze.
We use it on a Ford Ranger and regardless of where we place it, it blocks out the reversing camera. I think that's just the way it goes as every vehicle has their camera in a different location.
The key to using this pad is to ensure that the loops are very close to the top of the tail gate and that its tie-down straps are pretty firm.
We use an additional tie-down to secure the rear of the bikes to the truck - though for short smooth trips that's un-necessary.
The main reason for liking this product is that it is much quicker and more convenient than using tie-downs to secure your bikes in the tub of a truck. I would say it takes maybe 2-3 minutes to get our bikes secured with this pad.
